NARI and the WOAI Troubleshooters Team Up
Ms.
Callie Cooper, a San Antonio resident, was swindled by a local
remodeling contractor, Jack Burkett, out of some money she gave the
contractor to remove an existing wood deck and pour a concrete patio
in her back yard. Burket, not licensed with the City of San Antonio
Development Services [210-207-1111], started the contracted work but
never finished although Ms. Cooper had paid in full.
After
calling the WOAI Troublshooters reporter Brian Collister, Callie was
delighted to hear that the San Antonio Chapter of NARI was willing
to help finish the project. Brian contacted us regarding Ms.
Cooper's plight to see if any of the members of NARI could help see
the project through. Rather than just guiding Ms. Cooper through the
legal system in dealing with contractors, we went one step further
and decided to complete the project for her as a way of telling all
involved that there are still reputable remodeling contractors who
care about their work and their industry. NARI represents the best
of the remodeling industry and contractors meeting the high quality
requirements of the organization can be trusted to do an honest,
quality job for homeowners.
On 8/19/2005 a founding member of the local chapter of NARI and
local Remodeler Rudy Niño, CGR with SA
Building & Remodeling saw the project through
with the pouring of the concrete at Ms.Cooper's backyard patio.
“This man [Jack Burkett] took advantage of a very sick lady [Ms.
Copper has cancer] and must not have a conscious at all.” Niño
continued by saying that “Selecting the remodeling professional who
is best qualified must be a difficult task for some.”
The San Antonio Chapter of NARI’s part in this was to help Ms.
Cooper as well as show residents and homeowners in the San Antonio,
Bexar county and surrounding areas that there are good and reputable
contractors in the industry. As the industry spokesgroup and
representative of the best of the industry, NARI is the organization
to look for when trying to find one of these quality contractors.
The high ethical and quality standards that NARI members abide by
are represented by the professional remodeler that deserves
credibility.
